A workshop on classic kitchen gardens, covering everything from the history of the edible garden to design ideas and growing tips, will be held in Marin on June 18.
The Garden Conservancy and the Marin Art & Garden Center are collaborating on the day-long course.
A host of respected horiticulturists and designers have been tapped for talks including garden designer Kate Frey of Hopland, garden writer Willi Galloway of Seattle, Wa., landscaper Nancy Goslee Power of Santa Monica, Sam McNeil of Apple Art Espalier of Sebastopol and Mary Te Selle of Quite Contrary Garden Design in San Rafael.
Topics will touch on growing plants for flavor, mixing ornamentals and edibles, the charm of chickens, and creating a healthy environment that attracts pollinators.
The workshop includes lunch and a visit to two Marin County gardens tended by owners who both garden and cook. The day will end with a wine reception in the garden.
Cost for the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. workshop is $125. For information and registration call 415-441-4300 or visit the gardenconservancy.org.
